Drouhin Family Wines from Burgundy and Oregon with Guest Speaker Mark Kalachnik

May 15, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$35

For the last 130 years, Maison Joseph Drouhin has been producing exceptional wine from close to 90 different appellations in Burgundy, France. Today, the fourth generation is at the helm, animated by the same passion that inspired the founder of the company. The family has adopted the biological and biodynamic approach. Only natural products are used in the vineyards and all procedures show the utmost respect for the soil, the vine and the environment.

In 1961, third generation Robert Drouhin “discovered” Oregon and recognized that it was Oregon, more so than California, whose soils and climate could unlock the complexities and potential of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the United States. Domaine Drouhin has been on the viticultural cutting edge in Oregon since their first vintage in 1988. Robert’s daughter Véronique Drouhin-Boss is the ‘guardian’ of the Joseph Drouhin style and winemaker for the wines produced in Burgundy and Oregon.

Tonight’s tasting, lead by Mark Kalachnik Director of Sales for Dreyfus Ashby, will showcase and compare the Drouhin family wines from Burgundy and Oregon. In the wine business for over 40 years, Mark worked for several suppliers/importers before taking the position at Dreyfus Ashby & Company in 1990. He has traveled extensively to wine regions around the world and is a very entertaining, informative and experienced speaker.

This is a sit down tasting, so reservations are required. Please email us (info@westernreservewines.com), stop in  or call 440-498-9463. Cheeses, breads and other good things will be served to complement the wines.
