Pumpkin Spice

Recipe by Nancy Johnson; Wine Commentary by Gary Twining.

It all begins with the king of autumn, aka “punkin’ spice.” Make your own and you’ll be the most popular neighbor on the block.

3 tsp ground cinnamon

2 tsp ground ginger

2 tsp ground nutmeg

1 tsp ground allspice

1/2 tsp ground cloves

In a small bowl, mix spices. Store in an airtight container in the cupboard for up to three months. Add to lattes, smoothies, butternut soup, baked apples, whipped cream, cheesecake, pumpkin pie and much more.

Gary: Autumn brings cooler weather which is ideal to enjoy all types of wine after the intensity of the summer sun. This is the time to bring out your favorite wines to chase away the coming of winter. Just pair with relaxed sweaters, comforters, a fire pit or fireplace and a comfort menu of foods to warm the heart, body and soul.
