Thomas Fogarty Wines with Thomas Fogarty

Thomas Fogarty Winery and Vineyard is one of the San Francisco Peninsula’s most respected wineries. A Stanford Cardiovascular Surgeon and world-renowned inventor of medical devices, Dr. Thomas Fogarty took up home winemaking in the early 1970’s in a small cabin on the current winery site. With help from Michael Martella, a fourth generation grape grower in California, he planted his first grapes in 1978, and in 1981 established a commercial winery in the historic grape growing region of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

On the 325 acre estate, focusing on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, almost thirty acres are under vine and farmed organically with minimal (if any) irrigation. A 2000 foot elevation, long, cool growing season and excellent sun exposure provide an ideal climate for these Burgundian grape varieties.

Tomas Fogarty Jr. was ten years old when the first vines were planted at Thomas Fogarty and has seen the winery grow from its inception. Today, as Managing Principal, Tom carries forth the vision of founders, Dr. Thomas Fogarty and Michael Martella, hand-farming and raising these wines from the Estate’s small mountain vineyards.

We hope you will stop by to meet Tom and enjoy these small-lot, lovingly crafted wines. Cheeses, breads and charcuterie will be served to complement the wines. This is a casual “walk-about” style tasting, so reservations are not required. Just please call if you plan to bring a group.
