Temperance, Michigan, that is. The ironically named Temperance Brands – yes, the town was dry for a while in the 1800s and again during Prohibition – produces, among other products, Silk Premium Wines and Tolly’s liqueurs, which we recently tasted. Both items are creamy and sweet, and best enjoyed after a meal. Silk wines are made from cream, flavors and a neutral wine base that provides a 14 percent alcohol kick. Luscious and natural tasting, these are great served chilled over ice or stirred into a cup of coffee. Mixed with spirits, they also make a decadent dessert cocktail. The four flavors – Chocolate, Vanilla, Cherry Chocolate and Mint Chocolate – sell for $9.99. Tolly’s liqueurs are similarly creamy but pack a higher punch at 20 percent alcohol. They also have a richer, more buttery flavor. Tolly’s Vanilla Spice, Tolly’s Buckeye Candy (chocolate and peanut butter, natch) sell for $14.99. Get your sweet tooth on.
I tasted these at a wine event and would like to know where I can purchase them. I live in Battle Creek, MI.

Hi Nicole,
Talk to your local wine merchant. If they don’t have it, ask them to place an order for you with their distributor. Do tell them you saw the information in TheWineBuzz Magazine:-)
