Ommegang Brewery Brunetta

This Belgian brew pours a lovely clear garnet color, but offers a sparse head and light carbonation that quickly fade. A richer figgy aroma with sour underpinnings meets the nose. As it opens, the acidity that’s typical of a sour red brown seems to fade as well, giving way to stone fruit esters with a touch of spice and molasses. This beautifully made sour has interesting complexity without confusion. At just 5 percent ABV, it’s very sessionable for summer and is one we’ll buy again.
