This hazy, honey-colored Belgian tripel from Downingtown, just outside Philly, weighs in at a beefy 9.5 percent ABV. Nice carbonation zigzags up the side of the glass, popping in the nose with the scent of just-baked banana bread. The punch of cloves adds a little spice. A great starter tripel, a slight lemony acidity and the zing of pepper balance the Golden Monkey’s trademark Belgian sweet, floral character.
