Exploring the River Raisin Wine Trail in Lenawee County, Michigan

The River Raisin Wine Trail offers an unforgettable journey through the picturesque landscapes of Southeast Michigan, where history, culture, and fine wine converge to create an experience unlike any other. From charming downtowns to the rolling Irish Hills, you can choose your own locations and take a self-guided tour.

Named after the legendary River Raisin that flows gracefully through the heart of the region, this wine trail celebrates both the rich viticultural traditions and the storied past of Southeast Michigan. The River Raisin, a waterway that played a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of this region, was named from the French phrase “Rivière aux Raisins,” meaning “River of Grapes,” bestowed upon it by early French explorers and settlers in the 18th century. The region around the river was abundant with wild grapes, which inspired the name. As you traverse the trail, you’ll encounter four exceptional wineries, each offering a unique blend of flavors and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
